Sweet smells of hops and malts. Has some stout smell to a point. Looks and smell alone this was flat bad ass. Now for the taste: The flavor is very mellow, with some malt and light hop flavor though no agressive bite or bitterness is found. Its slightly thick in the mouthfeel and has a clean finish. Very enjoyable and relaxing. Its no special bitter, nor really bitter at all, but its darn good. And it has nice lacing (always a + ) saxo (3619), Højbjerg, Aarhus, Denmark

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 12, 2006 From can. Pours transparent caramel color with tall beige head that lasts a while. Slight carbonation. Aroma is more fruity than expected, like an oktoberfest. Flavor is pear, apple, and some sweet malt, with only slightly bitter finish. A little watery on the palatte, but wow, can really pound this if looking for a session beer. I like it more than I expected to. Knew nothing about it when I bought it and am pleasantly surprised. I would buy it again, despite the $8 per 4 pints. argo0 (6969), Washington DC, USA

Aroma is moderately sweet, caramel, some floral, nectarine, earthy. Taste is medium sweet, earthy, some caramel, light herb, peach. Finish is bland and watery. Light-medium body with light acidity. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 5, 2006 This is not a bad session beer. It’s very thin on the palate and it doesn’t have a very strong aroma to it. Carbonation is low, and the color isn’t an overly attractive orange. But the flavor is a nice caramel with some good balancing hoppy bitterness. I don’t know that I’ll buy another 4 pack, but it was worth a first try. AdamSkillin (376), High Bridge, New Jersey, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 1, 2006 hoppy grassy kind of smell, as orange as a beer gets, with a foamy wet cement head when poured from the can, (i.e. you can carve your initials in it), clean flavor, maltiness is only slightly overshadowed by a beautiful hop flavor and aroma that isn’t bitter, really pleasant contribution from the fuggles, typical english ESB in all the right ways. Great flavorful session beer. OldMrCrow (1200), Seattle, Washington, USA

Pours a copper orange with a modest, short-lived head. The aroma is that English scent of fuggles hops, slightly sour, slightly grassy, a hint of yeast and with perhaps a hint of hot buttered crumpets. The flavor is that of a rather straight-forward ESB, with relatively restrained hops nonetheless dominating the other flavors, slight sourness, buttery diacytel, toasted malts just over half way through, and then a nice gentle bitter finish. The mouthfeel is pretty true-to-style, somewhat thin and rounded with enough carbonation to keep one awake but not much more than that.
A perfectly passable ESB, but nothing more. GG (1650), NorCal, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 24, 2006 My best friends brother turned me on to this beer. While not normally a "can" drinker, it was something I’ve never tried and I’m glad he brought it up. A beautiful clear burnt orange color gives way to a nice rich, white foamy head. Right off the pour I could smell apples, almost as if I’d just poured apple juice for my 6 year old. I waited a bit until it warmed up and the buttery (diacytl?) flavor came thru like a truck with no brakes, just slammed my tastebuds. A nice tart finish made this a very balanced ale. Now what to offer in return for this fabulous gift...."
