Em termos de aparência, a espuma apresenta início pequeno, coloração branca e virtualmente nenhuma formação de colarinho. A longevidade da espuma é pequena, e a claridade do corpo é opaca. O corpo é ralo, de coloração cobre. Sabor inicial levemente doce e amargo, amargor leve esse que persiste até o final, de duração média. No paladar, um corpo leve-médio, auxiliado por textura ligeiramente oleosa (bem menor que às de Guinness e Wexford Irish Ale, por exemplo), carbonatação ’choca’ e final lembrando giz). Agradável e suave doçura maltada. Baixo amargor em relação a outras ESB.
