Cask at the Penny Black, JDW, Bicester, Oxon 24-04-09 Pours reddy brown touch of haze. The nose was almost non-existent but then it was up against the Oakham Hareflick and the surprisngly good Ramsbury’s Hell’s Highway Mild. Taste was fruity and malty and there was some toffee, the commercial description being very accurate and whilst not a bad beer by any means its just a middle of the road beer. A6 A3 F5 P3 Ov11 2.8

Cask handpull at Samuel Peto, JDW, Folkestone. It’s a quite fruity bitter, no huge hop presence, little bit of tongue tingle on finish. Some GK yeast character. Other than fruit, a bit dull.

Cask and handpump at William Morris in Hammersmith, red-brown with a fine white head. Aroma of oranges, apple esters and red fruit, slight hint of sourness, taste has more red fruit plus a little toffee. Malty hoppy finish. Good effort from Westgate.

Cask at the Samuel Peto (JDW), Folkestone. Port red in colour with a thin off-white head; lots of red fruit aroma; a little fruit flavour to start then dry caramel, biscuit and coffee takes over leading to a dry finish.
