Commercial Description:
Pasteurised bottle only.
Brewed to complement food, we use the lightest malts and Tettnang hops to achieve the unique pale golden colour, crisp taste and dry finish. This unique blend makes Hop the ideal accompaniment to spicy dishes, seafood and poultry. The Tettnang hops, imported from Washington State and Oregon, give the beer its soft melon aroma and complete the dry finish.

75cl bottle: Golden colour, white head fades quickly leaving a lightly carbonated flatish beer. Grassy aroma with a touch of citrus, refreshingly bitter taste, but rather thin and watery. Pretencious.

Pours a golden amber with a slightly fizzy head. The aroma starts off extremely skunky (stupid clear glasses). KP opened the bottle and poured a sample and I just happened to walk by and I was overwhelmed by the skunkified fumes and fell the the floor twitching. Luckily this hotel actually has clean floors. That craptastic motel in Baltimore may have given me some sort of lice infestation had I lain on the floor. Luckily skunkiness fades as the beer sits and I was able to get a feel for the actual beer after a few minutes. A bit of honey and peach ring candy in the aroma. A light touch of caramel in the flavor. Not a bad beer, I’m just glad this thing was priced extremely reasonably.

A thirst quenching and drinkeable beer. Not really worthy of its pretentious presentation, but outside of that certainly worth a go. Fresh finish follows a lightly citrussy lageresque ale.

66cl bottle from Franglais, Calais. I just couldn’t put myself out enough to buy this in England where it would have been more expensive. So on my last visit to Calais, I popped it into the trolley, not expecting any great shakes. It is a pale gold colour with a thick white head. Peppery hop and lemon citrus aroma. Bit of herb. Smooth in mouth, like lemon sorbet and then a good hop finish. Best drunk chilled I feel, a bit like a lager. This for me is the nicest Greene King beer that I’ve had. Very refreshing on a Sunday afternoon of 30 degrees plus. Well balanced. It won over my indifference. Not sure why you would have it with food though any more than any other beer.

750ml bottle. Beatutiful color, white, clean, even head. Sweet aroma, hard to pin-point. Best enjoyed fridge-cold. The taste is good with shrimps in honey-chili sauce. The dry finish fits dining perfect. As my girlfriend said: "It doesn’t even taste beer".
