Cask at The Golden Farmer, Bracknell. Nothing special about this one - brown with a white head; malty aroma; thin reasonably balanced taste with a short bitter aftertaste.

Cask at the Deramore Arms, Heslington. Nothing too special here. Light amber with fading one-inch white head that laces strongly. Aroma is light citrus, predominantly lemon, with slight toffee and caramel notes. Taste is bland: slight toffee or biscuit, a very slight hint of citrus through grapefruit, slight vegetal notes that are unpleasing. No after to speak of.

Beautiful amber color; frothy head. Delicate aroma, earthy hops. Very light body (too much, indeed), a bit metallic flavor, but also some light malt, some dry toffee and a reasonable hopping. Would be ok if not so weak.

Cask at The Horse and The Groom, London. Clear copper and a moderate offwhite head. Fruity hop aroma. Good bitterness throughout, caramel base, some fruit and earthiness. Medium to light body. A decent IPA.

A Mes rate: Cask at Baker Street JDW. Best selling cask beer in Britain. Now why is that? Quality or Interbrew style mass market control? Biased view? Nothing more to say.

Poor condition. Insipid and forgettable. Not nearly enough bite for me. Lacking flavour.

Half pint on cask at a pub called The Three Jolly Sailors in Ipswich. Amber body under a medium white head. Traces of hoppy aroma. Light caramel and bitterness in taste. Creamy and smooth. Very standard - prefer the bottle version (22.09.2006)
