Nose is surprisingly not bad. Toasty malts, earthy hops, light floral notes and tea leaves. Taste is light pine, earthy hops, dried flowers, toast malts, light hints of burnt bread and minimal malt sweetness. Not bad. Body is creamy and smooth, mostly due to the nitrogen, but is pleasant on the palate. Finishes with more pine, earthy notes, light hop floral, tea leaves, sweet malts and a bit of toffee. I liked this better on cask. matta (1139), Tampa, Florida, USA

Poured a busty copper body with a thick creamy head. The aroma was earthy with woodsy notes of spruce chips and lemon peel. The malts added a toasted bread likeness with hints of caramel in the background…. A nice traditional English IPA… but not a huge fan myself.

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Jul 16, 2005 Nitro can. Pours a light orange in color with the typical nitro head. Aroma has a lot of stale earthy hops in it. A slight malt flavor and hop taste. Not very aggressive and easy to drink. Liberty (52), Stompwijk, Netherlands
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 15, 2005 From the bottle: I think this beer has a nice balance between malt and some bitterness, along with some nice hops making this a reasonable pleasant beer. Caramel is present and its quite sweet for an IPA. It does seem to have a little diacetyl (a bit buttery). Overall a decent beer. BeerAteHer (384), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jul 9, 2005 Deep amber beer with the typical nitro side-foam and microscopic white head. Aroma is faint but malty at a close distance. Flavor is similar, with perhaps a bit of tinniness and club-soda most likely contributed by the processes that bring it to the can. On draught this beer might well be great; as it stands it was a good deal at $0.99 for an individual tall pint can (I think it was mislabeled because a 4-pack was going for $6). | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jul 7, 2005 This is a very mild pasteurized-can-style British IPA. In England, apparantly that means they brew it with less hops. Who’d of known? Anyway, this beer is a decent bitter along the lines of Smithwicks or Old Speckled Hen. It is thin and watery with a fine nitro head and there are very slight hints of sweet caramel. Perhaps there’s a small bitterness that trails for a while. Palidor19 (1798), Brandon, Florida, USA
