A standard session brew given an award by the indepeant organisation that Green King gives money to. Its dull. Its dishwater. Its a scandle. Boystout (900), Chisinau, Moldova

Yes, I agree it shouldn’t have been awarded a prize - after all it’s not that good. But it’s not a bad beer either. A good downer and refreshing. A session beer. | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 8, 2004 Draught. Copper coloured, with a creamy white head. Again it is not an IPA, despite the name. An easy drinking pint, with a hint of fruity sweetness. Some bitterness. This was given 2nd place in the recent Champion Beer of Britain competition. I am not sure why. AlphaOne (142), Australia
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Aug 2, 2004 Nitro keg. Served too cold (obviously, this is Australia after all). Golden amber, nitro head. fairly hoppy earthy slightly woody aroma, some caramel. The flavour is very dry, with light caramel, earthy wood, apple banana and peach, toasty with light bitterness. tipsytoad (84), Jersey
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 30, 2004 Updated: Aug 12, 2004Mediocre, run of the mill, middle of the road, average but perhaps acceptable. Hops and malt balanced but lacks body and complxity. a beer which, in my opinion is for the inexperienced real ale drinker, the first timer. Large breweries such as Green King are a gateway to the real ale market because they are much better than the ’smooth’ beers but are not as complex and aquired as microbrews. Significant taste so as not to startle the flavour starved taste buds of ’smooth’ orientation but not to overwhelm. Also called ’Real Ale’ which bridges that gap too. IPA ?
Re-rate: silver medal in the champion beer of Britain awards!! unbelievable! why? other micro breweries, aside from producing better beers, are more in need of publicity and prestige than green king. shocking decision. macdeffe (52), Århus, Denmark

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jul 10, 2004 660ml clear bottle. Poured a clear amber with golden brown head. Little carbonation. Chilled to 12 deg C. Soapy hops aroma. Strong hops flavour, not quite as bitter as I expected. Mouthfeel a bit watery. Very short finish. An allright session beer but its usually too warm on draught for me.
