A beautiful dark amber brew that’s not really an IPA, but is a wonderfully pleasurable, intensely hoppy experience. Try it in East Anglia on tap, not from a bottle in New York, please! noelcb (271), Toledo, Ohio, USA

Faint aroma of grapefruit hops and caramel. Taste is citrusy bitter against a backdrop of malt, caramel, chocolate, coffee and bitter herbs. Godd bitter aftertaste. Palate is solid with a nice full body and a dry finish that left me always wanting another sip. andymccabe501 (5), England does not count | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 11, 2007 got it on tap, a nice amber colour, a head that recedes a little too quickly.
Quality out of the tap, but not from a can or bottle.
Taste is a little weak/watery, but it does taste good UnionMade (621), Connecticut, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 7, 2002 Good stuff. The IPA bitter labelling kind of confuses me. Is it an IPA, or a bitter? It certainly tastes more like a bitter. The nose is very fruity, with some alcohol. Taste is malty, with traces of fruit and alcohol. Hops are mild and finish off the beer nicely. Carbonation is low, which I always enjoy, and altogether it’s a great beer. The taste is a little thin, which the mildness doesn’t help, but seems to have some bady and depth. Very english. jgb9348 (2499), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA

Medium head - with a fair amount of lacing. Flavor is a great balance of hops and malts. Great session ale - could see having several of these - goes down well - just the right amount of bitterness. legion242 (1582), Richardson, Texas, USA

It's just really pleasant, fresh and flowery, light and easy to drink (not in the sense of 'easy listening' - damn they dont have double inverted commas on brit keyboards). Not really very bitter but just bitter enough to be balanced. Slight walnutty malt character, and an earthy, fat floral finish. rer8: out of the can this is pretty bland but what did you expect. still ok, im leaving the original 3.5 for the cask cause it looks like this one can use all the support it can get round here.
