Bottle Gardener’s Arms, GK pub, Oxford, RB Pub crawl 08. Amber with no head. Some fruit on aroma. No flavour. Some malt. So watery. Over carbonated. But not awful.

A Mes rate: Bottle at the other Gardners Arms, Oxford during the RB pub crawl.
Clean copper coloured with no head. Bland cardboard and malt that is only offensive due to it being so BLOODY dull. So so bland it’s almost water. Fish could live in this with no problems...

Bottled, pasterised, 275ml, from The Cromwell, Banbury. Brown body with cream head, heavily carbonated. So as i was opening a wonderful box of Struise & Mikkeller beers put together by Fin, I was drinking this, talk of chalk & Cheese. Sweet and cardboardy, thin malt beer. Not good.

Bottle in The Hungry Fox, Hempstead Valley. Firmly carbonated. Attractive, clean, reddish amber colour. Cardboard, metal and ice aroma. Some cardboard flavour, mainly neutral, though a mild initial sweetness is followed by a late bitterness. Some fruit in the middle. A typical light ale, though tastier than average.

Bottle split with larsga. Malty beer, almost ruby, some prickly carbonation. A bit nutty, caramel, toffee. Some bitterness int he finsih that was not too pleasant.

Mid-amber colour with a good white head. Old-fashioned malty aroma. Sweetness in the taste with a hint of citric sourness. Very light bitterness follows. Too fizzy.

Bottled. Amber red, low head and good condition. Lots of toffee malt in the nose, caramel and toffee in the mouth along with a gentle underlying hop bitterness that is barely noticable. Thin malty finish with a slight dryness. Given its sweet malty body, low hopping and low abv this is more of a pale mild than a bitter, but only seems available in Greene King pubs in bottles.

Medium shiny coarseish offwhite head. Reddish brown body. Light caramelly aroma with hop notes. Dry grainy metallic roasty malt taste with fruity notes. Clean mouthfeel, slightly fizzy, but a bit watery. Dry roasty metallic aftertaste. Not bad. (0.275l bottle at the Plume of Feathers, Greenwich, split with Knut Albert.)
