Commercial Description:
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Marketed in the United States as Olde Suffolk.
A blend of two ales: Old 5X , which is brewed to the maximum strength possible (around 12% abv) and left to mature in 100-barrel oak vats for a minimum of two years, and BPA, a dark, full-bodied freshly brewed beer which is added just before bottling. The result is a unique beer - strong (6% abv), dark, fruity, oaky and very, very special.

Bottled(500ml). –Dark brown/ruby colourd, medium sized beige head, pleasant chocolate nose. Light roasted sweet malty, chocolate and fruity aroma with notes of vanilla, dark fruits and spices. Like it states on back label, it trully tastes like cake. The best beer that I’ve tried in last 4-5 months.

Pour is a dark red with a small tan head. Aroma is some dark fruit with a bit of cherry and oak. Flavor is very much a dark caramel malt with some notes of toffee and wood smoke. A decent beer you could have in winter or summer.

Pours a deep reddish brown, with a thin offwhite head. Smells interesting - toffee, a sherry-like sharpness, and a hint of vanilla. Surprisingly thing bodied, and a little over carbonated for my taste, but a complex flavour. Caramel, oak, toffee, and plums all pop up to say hi. A good firm bitterness rounds off the experience. Not a bad drop at all.

Dark red off white head diminishing. Aroma of Christmas pudding (with brandy). Strong malt alcohol taste. Feels quite thick and lasting. A distinctive beer for late nights in front of the fire (or PC). I could only manage the one. (Or two

Bottle. Pours a clear brown/amber with a small light tan head that fades to a ring and leaves some lacing. Aroma of caramel, dark fruit, slightly burnt toffee, and a hint of chocolate. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium thin slightly watery mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness. Very good.

Drool. I love "liquid bread" effects from beer and this one has it all. Above-average in most departments: head, body quality, flavor, color, aroma and mouthfeel. A good drinking experience.
