Aroma is of plum, caramel, slight roasted malts, molasses, oak, and some sweet malts. Flavor starts off with the plum, molasses, and sweet malts that give way to the oak and a hint of some bitterness. Overall this isn’t too bad, I was only slightly dissapointed in the flavor from what I got from the aroma but is still a nice brew. jalichio999 (502), Brazil

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 28, 2007 Appearance: dark amber color. Medium head, beige color and persistence.
Aroma: Sweet, Candy of the malts, reminiscence of toffee, honey, sweet chocolate, old wine and plums.
Flavor: Similar to aroma, toast malts, candy, sweet wine and bitter chocolate. Sweet begin-light bitterness of hop in the finish. Metallic tone in the end.
Palate: Medium body, velvet and semi-oily texture. Low carbonation.
My first Old Ale, a very good experience. Nice blending of two ales, very advisable.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 20, 2007 Looks beautifu in deep dark red. A lot of burnt syrup on nose and especially taste. Brings back memories of making gingerbread houses as a child. Moderate bitterness and quite harsh taste overall, but I like it very much. Sweet syrupyness and fruitiness. cheeta (904), Langå, Denmark

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 12, 2007 500 ml bottle. After reading some of the ratings here I checked 3X to make sure I got the right beer. How can this be a 94? Anyway, pours a clear, dark amber with a tan head. The nose and flavor are softly nutty, uninteresting. Slightly oaky with vanilla notes. I found this to be a boring, uninspired beer - drinkable, but not worth drinking again. aobecksy (661), Middle of no where, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 12, 2007 A brown like cola with a fine head. The nose is sweet and fruity. The flavor is strong, Sweet caramel vanilla butterscotch, with dried fruits--prunes? Nicely topped with an mild alcohol content; dry finish. Nice complex ale. cking (1041), North Canton, Ohio, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 10, 2007 Rated 1/16/06: I debated for some time in the store if I should purchase a bottle of this or not. I’m glad that I decided to! Pours a dark red almost purple with a decent head and good lacing. I let the beer warm up in the glass for a bit, the aroma is very fragrant. Feels smooth going down and finishes even smoother. Very drinkable indeed, and the flavor is nothing short of spectacular. The blend of two ales must be the key with this one cause there is a fresh hoppy taste followed directly by a strong smooth burst. Almost finishes like a whiskey or a dry wine, I can’t quite put my finger on it but it works well. This beer is a bit pricey for my liking but it worth every penny to enjoy once in a while.
