Commercial Description:
Bottle: Pasteurised.
Marketed in the United States as Olde Suffolk.
A blend of two ales: Old 5X , which is brewed to the maximum strength possible (around 12% abv) and left to mature in 100-barrel oak vats for a minimum of two years, and BPA, a dark, full-bodied freshly brewed beer which is added just before bottling. The result is a unique beer - strong (6% abv), dark, fruity, oaky and very, very special.

Finally, finally getting a chance to try this, thanks to the friendly provider and sharer of beer goodies, Hogtown Harry, sampled after a squash night. Not sure the year, but the bottle said best before Nov 07. Dark ruby brown, medium foamy head. Wow, aroma - so woody, malt, grain. Like a contemplative old style porter. Nutty. Amazing. Nutty, caramel, burnt sweet taste - lovely stuff. Medium body. Very easy to drink, alcohol never a factor. Not overly complex in taste (now the aroma is a different story), but man, the flavour is good and this beer is an amazing example of an English Strong / Old Ale. Waited 3 years to try it, thanks again Harry.

Dark redish brown color with a thick tan foam. Lots of malt, hops and fruit tones. Medium to full body with a long bitter aftertaste.

The nose is nutty, malty, fruity just beautiful. Pours a nice deep ruby color that makes you want to drink.

Dark red brown malty beer, with sweet roasted malty and peppery flavor. Oaky aroma, good body and balance. Very good:

16.9oz bottle. Pour is deep ruby with off-white hue that lingers. Nose is oaky, fruity, similar to a light red wine. Flavor is more oak, some sweet malts, and hints of flemish sour characteristics. I guess this is the oak. Finish is dark fruits. Not incedibly strong for the style, but has an enormous amount of character. Would like to taste the Old 5x and BPA separately someday. Solid Brew.

Dark red, almost black colored. Fastly vanishing beige head. Sweet, caramelly, licoricy, oaky and chocolaty aroma, also mild vanilla there. Medium bodied. Flavor is rich with oak, licorice, sweet caramel, roasted coffee and chocolate.
