Full nectar w/ mellow effers. Malty, dry, bitter, and creamy w/ a sourdough tropshire. Mellow bittering on the finsh. I can tell this has been aged. It has a pronounced rustic character. I really dig this brew. Highly recommended. Mungo (2473), Southampton, Hampshire, England
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jul 13, 2006 Bottle ( From Morrisons). Deep brown. Fruity, vinous, light roasty toffee. A bit sweet with some sourness and a hint of hops as well. Lacking in body. On the whole not to great for me. Conflicting flavours and the finish is sweet and musty not a nice combo. stouby (1955), Holbaek, Denmark

Brown with a light brown head. Aroma moderate malty (caramel, vineous?). Flavor moderate/heavy sweet and light acidic (oak). Medium body, soft carbonated. McWorta (39), Luxembourg
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Jun 30, 2006 Updated: Jul 22, 2006This beer I got across rather randomly took me by surprise.
"Vintage ale" ... the name sounds bold and surely it stands for it.
The head was a classic ale head small crisp not too thick not too soft. The colour is ruby. Holding it against the light makes it a very interesting look.
It is for an ale light to medium sparkling.
As the bottle promises the caramel and toffee do really march over your palate. A slight hint of oak is rounding it all off. The taste is full nearly bold. A bit sweet with a splash of bitterness. Now the mix makes it really interesting.
It is not for nothing that this beer became an International Gold award. I am deeply impressed and will definitely get some more of them.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 10, 2006 Bottle. Poured a dark brown with a tan head that quickly dissipated to a ring and left light lacing. The aroma found fruits, caramel, and more & more oak as it warmed. The flavor was sweet fruits, oak, and hints of toffee. Medium body. Slight sour ending but enjoyable. eaglefan538 (2403), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 8, 2006 Within style, about as good as I guess it gets. Very nice initial head and decent lacing. The color was translucent brown. Aroma was malty, buttery, and licorice. The flavor was pretty much the same, hops lacking. The mouthfeel was oily with an acidic type finish. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 6, 2006 Bottle stamped L3003, so I don’t really know how old it was. Poured into my English pint glass, a medium- lasting head developed on top of a cloudy chestnut body. I thought the aroma was strongly oaky, with vinuous notes. I also detected a little wildness (brett maybey?) in the aroma as it warmed. From the strong aroma of oak, I expected the flavor to be very sharp, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was mild and earthy, with a creamy texture. Very nice. Rune (2859), Tromsø, Norway

Creamy beige head. Spicy aroma. Flavour of burnt caramel. Has a distinctive sourish and yeasty texture. Good, but not great (02.06.2006).
