| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 17, 2005 Clear dark, dark brown - almost black. In fact, it poured a bit like a cola. Sweet berry fruits in the aroma, along with licorice. On tasting I could detect some burnt toffee, with a whiskey feel coming through on the aftertaste, probably from the oak. There is some shallow bitterness, but it seems to be layered on top rather than integrated, and a sweetness that seems to contrast rather than complement. A medium body, and average carbonation. I was hoping for a little more from this, as it didn’t live up to the aroma and tasted a little artificial. oldrtybastrd (1823), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA
