Pours a reddish brown with a small beige head. Nose is suprising. Complex and nutty with hints of hazelnut and fruit. Taste is similar to the Belhaven Wee Heavy but not as heavy. Cherry, tons and tons of caramel, some chocolate and a little tartness maybe from the cherries. This is really quite great. kempicus (350), Wellington, New Zealand

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 22, 2008 Bottle. Moderate malt notes of roasted and nutty, light hops and yeast notes of herbs and earth, with hints of toffee, brown sugar and cola. Head is average size, frothy, light brown with no lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear dark brown. Flavor is lightly sweet and moderately acidic to start, and finishes lightly bittersweet and acidic. Palate is medium, watery with a touch of creaminess and has a lively carbonation. A very easy drinking Old Ale, but why the added caramel color? Bier brauen (215), Bremerton, Washington, USA

Proper Old Ale colouration - deep ruby brown colour with slight tan head. Aroma is caramel with molasses and rich fruit. Taste - think Old Peculier and you are in the right ball park. Excellent Old Pec copy and worthy of respect in its own right.
