Hammster (187), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Nov 23, 2007 500 ml bottle. Cranberry/amber brown with a small off white head. Aroma was pretty complex--smelled like a sherry--dry with lots of fruit notes. Tastes a little like a dessert wine too--the oak is evident and so is the cherry and other dark fruit. Finish is smooth and has notes of fruit and cork. Remarkably unique beer--I’m surprised that Old Ales aren’t more popular.
joe19612 (441), camberley, Surrey, England Nov 28, 2008 Bottle. Pours a very dark colour, the aroma is roasty with a hint of molasses, the taste is full of chocolate, dark fruit. Surprisingly bitter. Lots of flavour but not overwhelming.
