BBB63 (3795), La Porte, Indiana, USA May 16, 2003 Updated: May 21, 2004 2000 Vintage: Dark brown, thick and creamy head which produces a great lace on the glass. A lot of different aromas detected; chocolate & coffee malt, pears, apple, port, woody. The taste was very balanced, smooth with no extreme bitter aftertaste. Alcohol level provided me a warmness that was very comforting. A world class ale, can't wait to try another 2000 vintage if I can find it, or future offers of Olde Suffolk. Glad I finished with this beer, for now I'm getting sleepy, sweet dreams ahead!
doublebock (154), USA Aug 28, 2008 Deep auburn color with little head. Immediate aroma of bourbon. Fruity grapelike flavor with subtle but well blended bourbon oakiness. Not detecting much hopiness Imperial-John (89), Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Aug 27, 2008 500ml bottle. Dark brown with thin beige head. Boozy, malty, woody, belgian aroma. Reminds me of the dopplebocks. Very malty and dry, sweet yet sour after-taste, nice carbonation. Body is more of an 8% alc than 6%. Must be an English thing as the same can be said for the Fullers Vintage. albertane (269), Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England Aug 21, 2008 Bottled. This dark brown beer has a nicely complex aroma and flavour with dark fruity malt, caramel, vanilla and alcohol. madquacker (479), Canberra ACT, Australia Aug 20, 2008 Dark murky brown with a good head. Slight charcoal and leather and smoked wood. Very complex and nice. JK54B (291), Finland Aug 19, 2008 A hazy brown colour. Pale brown head. Some hints of apple in the nose. A little bit sour taste with aromas of prunes and oak and syrup and caramel. Suiteble sweetness. A bite of hops in the end.
