I found this in bottles at Peace St. Market, Raleigh. This one is dark straw with some hopcit and floral esters. The taste is less hoppy than many IPAs, but the malt is solid, and it is fairly well balanced. BrewEd (182), Wilmington, North Carolina, USA

Usually Greenshields stuff is good - I’ll have to go back and re-rate once I’ve tried it again. brownaler (379), Topsail Beach, North Carolina, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 10, 2004 im confused. this is a good IPA, but it has too much malt and too much of a malty smell. replace the malts with a strong hop presence and you could get a better than average ipa. all that aside, golden pour, standard ipa looking beer. this is better than highland IPA for NC brewed beers.. not bad. elsberry (87), North Carolina, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 8, 2004 A cloudy caramel color, with a fairly good bite. It leaves an odd aftertaste to me that I don't prefer, perhaps it's malt, but it's difficult to discern. It's not a beer I'd pick out of a crowd of IPAs. Quite drinkable, but I would order another IPA if it were at the bar and I had the choice. A uninspiring beer, but not bad. The head isn't spectacular, but it has a nice hops smell. An average IPA. elnadeau (786), Laguna Niguel, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 12, 2003 Brownish amber, small coarse head, light hop aroma. Balanced on the hops side, with a good bite. Malt character comes through better after it warms a bit. Not a bad IPA, drinkable enough but not outstanding. jaymobrown (1360), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Amber, copper hazy appearance. Nice hop flavor - nothing overpowering. Light citrus flavors; mildly acidic with a dry fizzy texture. Solid IPA. Thanks to Trappist for the hook-up.
