Oakes (7032), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Nov 10, 2001 Golden-bronze hue; BIG malt nose. If you are an aspiring brewer and want to learn how to mash a beer, go to Bavaria. Fully malt, brilliantly extracted flavours. So pure a maltiness that there is little analogy to be made. You can almost taste the individual grains. It is a very simple beer on the surface but to get flavours so pure and so clean is a task that 99.9% of brewers worldwide could not execute. Fantastic. Ernest (4285), Boulder, Colorado, USA Apr 6, 2005 Germany, Nov 2003.
Head is initially large, frothy, white, mostly lasting.
Body is clear medium yellow.
Aroma is moderately malty (bread), moderately hoppy (flowers), with a note of honey.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter.
Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
Loved this stuff...big ballsy equally malty and hoppy nose, clean, great balance. Luscious. Slayer85 (460), Firenze, Italy Aug 3, 2007 Updated: Nov 7, 2007Draught at the brewery. A golden beer, near orange with a beautiful white head. Pleasant malty aroma with strong notes of bread. Good. The flavour is malty with a good amoumnt of hops giving the right amount of bitterness. very good malt profile. A touch of smoke too.Light ABV, but medium body. Absolutely interesting, one of the best In this style. rauchbier (2877), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England Sep 29, 2004 Tap, at the brewery. Gold, moderate white head and gentle condition. Low fruity berries in the nose with a suggestion of strawberry and a sweet yeastiness as it warms. Pleasantly musty in the mouth with some strangely appealing mushroom funkiness. Dry and slightly hop bitter finish with a lingering corky mustiness and a return of the strawberries. Weird.
omhper (10950), Stockholm, Sweden Oct 26, 2006 Bottled at Akkurat, Stockholm. Clear dep golden, rocky head. Grassy nose with plenty of papery/buttetry malt. Very dray and soft with spicy/grass hops and filling mouthfeel. Despite the richness of grassy hops it’s dominated by buttery dense malt. Very pleasant and quenching.
