| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 2, 2006 33 cl bottle, ’bbe’ Sep 07. Deep dark red-brown with a modest turbidity. A dissipating head; some lace anyway. Sniffing from the bottle gives a strong hint of (chocolate with) raisins, or British ’rich fruit cake’. Nosing the beer poured in a glass also reveals some minty, somewhat harsh, bitter notes - yet the sweetness still prevails. Taste: raisins, port, pepper, a hint of banana, with the sweet firmly holding the steering wheel. (More) cocoa powder comes retronasally. A bit slick texture. Does this brewery still operate or has the production moved to Du Bocq and/or a third place...? Stew41 (1054), Caulfield, Australia

Amazing persistent fizzy head early. Just won’t quit. And I kid you not – this beer looks like a slightly sprinkled cappuccino with what appears to be tiny flakes of chocolate. What the? Anyway, looks great and is certainly different. Body is brown with reddish tinges. Nose is quite strange – the most dominant character being a confectionary, musky like note. Not really beer like?
Palate structure is balanced and almost elegant notwithstanding the 8%. Chocolate malts drive most of the flavours but they are quite mild yet don’t lack intensity. The musk comes into play again midway through the journey and marries to the chocolate quite well. Decent length in the finish and never fades. Good beer. bierkoning (6094), La Tropica, Netherlands

Malty sweet, sugary flavor with the above mentioned spices and some tropical fruit. Spicy, light bitter aftertaste. CapFlu (3491), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

Pours a small, white quick dissipating head and a slightly sediment filled, highly carbonated orange body. Nose of doughy malt, sour yeast and alcohol. Flavour of caramel malt, mild vegetable and high ABV. Okay. Geiserich (1790), Vienna, Austria

Raspberry, some citrus and spices in the aroma. The flavor has raspberry, sweetness and spicyness, finishing quite sweet, with tea and dried fruits. Medium body. Hardly quaffable, but one to sit down and (try to?) enjoy. Rating: 6-4-6-3-13-3.2. Old rating stands.
Bottled. Light brown with a beige head. Aroma is spicy, hoppy and with some citrus-notes. Flavor is much the same, but with some alcohol, but too much dishwashing-soap reminiscent. Sweet, full body. (060328) MiP (9159), Sønderborg, Denmark
