The aroma has some light tobacco and grass. There is also a cake donut note. The taste is grassy with some bell peper notes. There is also some white bread crust. A decent brew, especially for Sand Creek. switzer (22), USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 6, 2007 Pours a light gold with a fair amount of carbonation, and a foamy head that fainly dissipates. Smells of a bouquet of flowery hops. Flavor is balanced between hops and malt, and finishes clean. This is an all malt beer, no adjuncts, and has more gusto than any other German Pilsener in St. Louis. Way to bring back a legendary beer brand to St. Louis! vyvvy (2068), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Aug 18, 2007 Pours pale yellow with lots of carbonation and a white head. The aroma has clean pale malt with hints of corn and light traces of hops. Light body with typical carbonation - too sharp of a body for this one. The taste starts with pale malt with some spicy hops and then finishes a bit sour with a little bit of skunk. Okay beer. Soonah (965), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 27, 2007 On tap at Canoe in St. Charles, MO. The pour was crystal clear with a nice foamy white head that provided very nice rings of lacing. The aroma was slightly sweet with plenty of malt and a bit of pepper and alcohol noted as well. The flavor and mouthfeel were thin for a pilsener. Some sweetness up front with a bit of herbal spice and hops. thegreenrooster (1842), St.louis, Missouri, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 7, 2007 Found a six pack of bottles of this at a local liquor store. Pour is a bright yellow with a foamy white head. Aroma is distant but some slight sweet malts. Flavor is better. Some crisp hop along with a decent amount of bready malts. It a decent simple, easy going pils. Braudog (3770), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 17, 2006 8 oz draft samples at St Louis Microfest, 5/13/06: Met the latest generation of Griesediecks -- nice guys -- who are contract brewing this at Sand Creek. At first pour, this seems like the standard yellow beer ... dig into it a little more and we get a well balanced albeit malty beer. really rather drink this than Coors Light! | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 4, 2005 On tap at Cicero’s in St. Louis. Turns out the decendants of the original Griesedieck Brothers are contract brewing the family pilsner (dormant since 1957) at the Morgan Street Brewery. They sell about 30 kegs a month at 15 different bars around St. Louis. Of course it is a yellow fizzy beer with a white head as expected, but it shows some promise. A little sweeter with a powdery mouthfeel. Has a vague sweet orange kool-aid aroma. Slightly peppery with a little hop heat. Tingles the tongue. This is most certainly not another Old Style masquerading as a retro revival.
