Rating from a bottle supplied by dm9831, carefully poured into my Choc Beer glass - It has a clear golden body with a modest white head and spotty lacing. The aroma is bready with some corn and honey topped off by grassy and zest hop scents. The flavor follows suit but is crying out for some more hops to truly raise it to the Pilsener level. All in all, though, a pretty sessionable lager.

Chill hazed dark straw color with a small but stable cm. of white smaller bubbles. Doughy aromas. Flour, light yeast , bit of floral hops. Sweeter flavors. A hot cereal taste, with cream of wheat and malt-o-meal coming to mind. A bit of corn comes to mind as well. Light honey and and grass to herbal hops in the middle and finish. LIght sweet grains in the linger. Seems more like a kolsh.

Bottled. Hazy mediumgold body with a rocky bright white head. The aroma has some light tobacco and grass. There is also a cake donut note. The taste is grassy with some bell peper notes. There is also some white bread crust. A decent brew, especially for Sand Creek.

Bottle from Friar Tuck in St. Louis. Golden color with a large finely bubbled head. Lots of grassy hop in the aroma, with perhaps some light bread beneath. Body is medium; carboation is frothy. Flavor is nicely grassy bitter, with some malt - hops 1, malt less than 1. It has a nice clean bitter finish. Does somewhat resemble a Bohemian product. Quite like the ending.

Sampled during Great Taste of Midwest 2009 in Madison, Wisconsin. Pours a clear golden pale yellow brew with a thin white head that quickly dissipates to a thin film. Aroma of golden grain malt, a hint of grassy hops and some honey. Taste is light to medium bodied, flavors of golden grain malt, a hint of honey and corn. Finish has a short grassy hop bitterness then a crisp, clean cut aftertaste.

8 oz draft samples at St Louis Microfest, 5/13/06: Met the latest generation of Griesediecks -- nice guys -- who are contract brewing this at Sand Creek. At first pour, this seems like the standard yellow beer ... dig into it a little more and we get a well balanced albeit malty beer. really rather drink this than Coors Light!

On tap at Cicero’s in St. Louis. Turns out the decendants of the original Griesedieck Brothers are contract brewing the family pilsner (dormant since 1957) at the Morgan Street Brewery. They sell about 30 kegs a month at 15 different bars around St. Louis. Of course it is a yellow fizzy beer with a white head as expected, but it shows some promise. A little sweeter with a powdery mouthfeel. Has a vague sweet orange kool-aid aroma. Slightly peppery with a little hop heat. Tingles the tongue. This is most certainly not another Old Style masquerading as a retro revival.

Bottle courtesy of sebletitje. Pours straw gold with micro thin off white head. The aroma is grainy malts, sweet malts and vague hops that hint toward citrus. The taste starts with a nice hoppiness moving into grainy malts and sweet malts. The mix of varied malt notes and hops makes for a very pleasing Pilsner.
