BeerBelcher (750), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Mar 27, 2008 I thought this to be a pretty average tripel, but it was by no means a disappointment. Pretty malty and not as spicey as I might have expected, but for some reason I was expecting a pretty mild-mannered beer (perhaps because it was listed as a blonde ale on the menu and bottle) and that is what I got.
Pour was a pretty rich gold-amber color with good head. Branded glassware at the Palm Tavern was nice enhancement to the experience. Aroma was not that distinct - some clove and a bit of diacetyl. Flavor was more of that, but with a distinctly strong malt backbone. Mouthfeel was unremarkable. In all I thought this an average yet rather sessionable beer.
I would recommend this beer, although not that strongly.
$3 bottles at the Palm Tavern on Kinnickinic in Milwaukee; price was right. Along with $1.50 Huber Bocks at Comet, this has to be one of the better bar bargains in Milwaukee.
rocbyter (671), Waterbury, Connecticut, USA Oct 9, 2008 Mild wheat aroma. Clear golden color with a small white head. Light malt beginning with a traditional Belgian middle, finishing quickly. EFC1878 (86), Manchester, Greater Manchester, England Oct 2, 2008 Bottle from Tesco. Beautiful dark golden colour with a perfect white head. Aroma is both malt and flowery hop with a hint of peach. Flavour mixes sweetness with a slight hint of the sourness of a wheat beer. Hints of apple in the satisfyingly dry finish. Excellent beer that just shades their Dubbel, though as the nights draw in, I’ll probably reverse that. nearbeer (1336), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Sep 30, 2008 33 cl. Clear, orange-gold with an eighth-inch of persistent head. Aroma of white wine, apples and corn sugar. Flavor of apples and grapes soaked in white wine with a touch of honey. Light body is dry on the finish and a little too fizzy for me. JonnyDr (112), , South Yorkshire, England Sep 28, 2008 Updated: Oct 4, 2008Medium amber beer with small diminishing head. Pleasant aroma and somewhat watery initial taste of fruits and malt. Finish is nice. Needs more alcohol. Quite cheap, so is now my beer of choice to be stocked up with. Beltramelli (465), Campinas, Brazil Sep 17, 2008 Creme medianamente denso e persistente. No aroma e no sabor, típicos do estilo, muitas cascas de laranja, frutas secas e damascos. Final longo e doce, levemente alcoólico.
