Bottle brown 330ml
Small but firm head giving traces of lacing, off-white or even mild cappuchino like, nose is winy, spicy and gently floral mixed with mild toasty to bready and yeasty mouldy background. Flavour very nice. malts, grains, dark bread, in fact very bready and juicy on the other hand. Sweet plum, complex wine, well built in alcohol, kind of dry, yeasty aftertaste, rounded and full taste, very smooth, delicious and easy going. palate seems a bit sticky. Its my sentimental Belgian Abbey Dubbel. scotty (834), Scotland

Nice spicy/malty aroma, quite full bodied. Not a great example of a dubbel, but ok nevertheless. Maybe buy again. Tesco. ScottB (73), Bristow, Virginia, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 20, 2008 Bottle. Poured a gorgeous, deep brownish-red. Head dissipated quickly leaving some lace. Not much to the nose, but that may be because it’s a little too cold. Strong malt and caramel notes are accompanied by a off-putting sourness. Slightly sweet finish. Not one I’d buy again. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 7, 2008 Pour is a dark red with a white head. Aroma is sweet caramel malts with a touch of chocolate. Flavor is a toffee with a bit of chocolate and the finish has a wine like quality with some vinegar coming out. Nice beer but nothing great. Would be a good starter beer for someone new to the style. nearbeer (1858), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Earthy spice and grain, some slight root vegetable in the aroma. Flavors of sweet molasses, grain, and sourish caramel cola are dried a bit by some astringent and understated grassy hops. Near-medium body is fairly smooth, and has some tingle.
