Sep 19, 2007 Pours a very dark ruby that is clear with a big creme head that falls fairly quickly but leaves a LOT of lacing on the way down. Musty yeast on the nose that seems to have a dusty tone to it. Metallic tone to the flavor overall with a touch of sugar and a tang on the middle. Feel is low on carbonation and seems to border on watery. Drinkable, yes. A good dubbel, but it didn’t exactly blow my socks off.

Sep 18, 2007 Very nice plum and raisin smell. Light brown to deep amber color. Great dried fruit flavor...sweet...but strong malt backbone. A little thin, but holds the flavor well enough. Not my favorite style, but good nonetheless.

Sep 17, 2007 Bottle. Poured a massive white head which takes some time to go. Dark brown colour, lovely aroma with some sweetness, quite smooth. Good example of a Dubbel.

Sep 16, 2007 Really dark ruby body with a a reddish white head. Leaves nice lacing. Light aroma as far as I could tell. But when you open the bottle you get a fat whiff of meat to the nose. I found it to have a slightly metallic taste at the front and at the aftertaste. A bunch of sweetness. The finish is the best part with a beautiful honey taste. Molasses present as well. Really, really smooth. Wonderfully drinkable. A real pleasant surprise and I think it is one of my favorite dubbels, just because it is so different from every other one I tried.

Sep 16, 2007 Had this at the Rusty Bucket while watching OSU dismantle Washington. Great stuff. Beautiful brown with a thick head. Aroma minimal, baking bread. Orange taste along with chocolate in a sweet and sticky palate. Mn. hops.

Sep 7, 2007 This has a dark brass/brown coloring with a foamy head and good lacing. There is a light malty-yeast aroma. It is rich and frothy with a complex flavor - sweet chocolatey-fruity malt gives way to a light hoppiness and a pleasant tingle. This is robust and interesting. This lives somewhere between the old Belgian abbey and the American brewpub. It is also nice strait from the bottle. My appreciation of this one has been growing.

Sep 3, 2007 Typical abbey double with hints of chocolate and malt. Had it on tap and got a free class to boot.
