Off-white head with medium retention recedes to coat surface. Mild malt and raisin aromas. Creamy sweet caramel upfront turning thick and plummy. Lasting cloying pti fruit finish. kopher (305), New York, USA

very malty aroma comes with raisins and candy.
similar candy taste, though not too sweet, with a nice fruity body and thin but nice malty finish.
a bit thin overall, but tasty and refreshing for a dubbel. smith4498 (917), Miami, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 7, 2009 Draft @ Ye Olde Falcon Pub. Pours dark reddish brown with tan head. Dark fruit and candy sugar aroma. Moderately sweet raisin and fig flavors with some molasses and candy sugar. Medium body with soft carbonation. Parket (262), Bruges, Belgium
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 1/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Jun 6, 2009 bottle, dark brown colour, very ridiculous white head (maybe because they poured the beer very badly). The beer has a fruity smell with notes from dried plums. Taste: very sugary and sweet, fruity, a bit grainy, artificial. I think this is a very average abbey dubbel, too much sugared and too artificial. DarkBeerReign (10), Rhode Island, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 1, 2009 This is a very well done ale, high quality. It poured much darker than I was expecting. It tastes like a trappist yeast was used, which created a sweeter beer than I typically liked, but I still enjoyed this. jbuzz (661), South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 27, 2009 Very good but basic. Sweet raisin no spice or other type of typical taste of the style.
But yet very drinkable. MagnumPI (56), Essex, England
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 25, 2009 MERGED BLUBBERING !
Chestnut hues, and quite a clear brown. More head than the blonde and a smokey aroma. Sweet, uncomplicated taste but very pleasant indeed. Almost mushroomy taste that is far too drinkable for a dark/dubbel
