Double has undergone two fermentations, which gives this ale a chocolatey, toffee taste with a warming brandy-like finish.

quite good commercial dubbel, and quite cheap birra d’abbazia dal dolce amaro ben bilanciato e armonioso, piacevole

Bottle at the local for lunch. Thanks Andre! A lovely Ruby with a wavy tan head. Rasins pears and cotton candy in the lively nose. Medium plus body undulates over tounge. Body warms and dark fruits emerge. a lovely sweet finish. I will have this with dinner next time.

clear, surprisingly light. cherry brown. no head. liquid hard candy. very sweet, nutty. better than those awful ones i had here last time (la trappe, though ironically enough i gave that dubbel a higher overall score)

(33 cl bottle) dark brown/reddish colour, slight malty nose, well balanced sweet/bitter notes, subdued but quite pleasant and drinkeable

11.2 oz bottle 5/3/09 (Courtesy of RSRIZZO)-Pours a dark brown with a nice big tan head. Aroma of malt and maybe some sweetness otherwise nothing. Taste of swetness followed by some amlt and raisin characteristics. This medium bodied brew has no Belgian characteristics instead of some sweetness. This is like some American malty product possibly a brown or amber. If its a diffferent take on a Dubbel it definitely fits that but nothing matches a true Dubbel. It still is quite drinkable.

Aroma has some currant, molasses and biscuit. Appearance was dark amber with a low carbonation creamy head. Flavor had mostly caramel and chocolate with sour apple vinegar and molasses. Finish was briefly lively with some creaminess. Underrated.

Draft - Pours a dark brown in color with a thick light tan head that lasted a while and produced some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is malty and sweet with plenty of dark fruit and caramel or brown sugar. Flavor is malty and very sweet with lots of dark fruit and brown sugar. Finish is cloyingly sweet and lingering. Much too sweet for me...
