Aroma is a sugary sweet toasted caramel scent. Taste is sweet and metallic. Starting with a lighter medium body it goes down sweet with a thin feel. Finish comes in sweet with a candy like sugar taste and a hint of raisin then just a hint of bitterness in the end. After taste is more candy sweetness. Overall its just way too sweet and has no Belgian yeast or fruit esters. Its just a thin, sweet Brown not a Dubble. TheCaptain (555), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA

Grainy with some sweet stale sourness. Thin and a little yeast bitterness that just didn’t appeal to me, not great. Gary (352), Buckinghamshire, England

| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Mar 17, 2009 Poured a deep reddish brown, and gave a quite thick and rich head. Although it tasted very rich and fll flat on the palate. I would drink this again but as an after dinner beverage or as a dessert beer. Doggythedog (1583), Split, Croatia
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 15, 2009 Bottle (Grimbergen Cuvée Ambrée Dubbel, 6.5% brewed "for" or by Kronenbourg), courtesy of and shared with ogivlado (thanks!). Poured a nice dark red-brown body. Medium-big tan head that went away at a medium pace. Sweet malty nose, some dust in the background. The taste is sweet and simple, but fine. A tasty fruity maltiness, carrying notes of apples and jam, dark malts. To sum it up, a simple, tasty Belgian that I wouldn’t mind having again. jcr (1154), Jasper, Indiana, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 15, 2009 Draft. Average size head, fizzy and light brown that reduces itself to a pool of bubbles. The body is clear and dark brown. Aroma is sweet with notes of caramel, prune, toasted grain and candy sugar. Some light mustiness. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightly bitter. The finish is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Thin to medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. Little complexity and thinner than better dubbels.
