BeerBelcher (694), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Apr 4, 2008 I had a Grimbergen Blonde last week back home in WI, and enjoyed it for a number of reasons, including the fact that it was on-special for $3! The double was not so cheap, but was pleasantly surprising.
The beer was served far too cold and in a strange glass choice (a pint glass, which may have come from a fridge) when I tried it at The Bulldog in New Orleans. Still, you could tell it had a bright copper color and abundant head. Due to its 33 degree serving temperature (which while sub-optimal for reviewing, was kind of nice given how hot and humid it was outside), I got very little aroma off of this beer. Flavor was quite nice though; with a substantial malty backbone (substantial without being cereal-y) complemented by a lot of fruit notes that were cherry and raisin-like. Mouthfeel was unremarkable, but what I’d expect from the style.
Pretty good. I’d recommend.

AgentSteve (600), Livermore, California, USA Jul 7, 2008 On tap, pours opaque ruddy brown with a two finger cream colored head. The nose and the flavor are both sweet summer fruits and brown sugar - toffee. A bit too sweet for me, but a nice smooth mouthfeel. glaze0101 (74), USA Jul 6, 2008 Bottle-Pours with a big light tan head. Aroma of strawberries and oddly enough tomatoes. Flavour is sweet and citrusy. Nice beer overall. puboflyons (345), New Hampshire, USA Jul 6, 2008 From a dwarf sized 12 fl. oz bottle marked: 1502QL0465A. Pours a very dark brown with a little bit of ruby red when held to the light. Creamy, beige head that stays for the entire session. Aroma of malts, hops, and nuts. The taste is extremely sweet like honey, caramel, or sugar. Yummy! I liked this one a whole lot. mybestfriend (226), Gothenburg, Sweden Jul 2, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark amber colour. Aroma is of sweet fruits with some spices on top. The flavour is sweet and fruity with notes of belgian yeast and spices. An OK double...that could have been more complex. nimbleprop (540), Washington, Washington DC, USA Jul 1, 2008 Scored this in a trade with daknole. Many thanks! Stubby 330ml bottle pours a translucent, deep amber brown with a frothy beige head. There was also plenty of sediment in the bottle. Nose is filled with bread dough, some dark candy, banana and maybe a little grape jelly. Flavor is fruity, apples and pears, and a little doughy. Finish is wet and sugary.
