Bottle at Beiaard, Amsterdam. Deep ruby colour, generous head. Cherry aroma. Fruity and bitter. Strong taste of cherry, framboise and other fruits. Syrupy, also taste of grapes. Warm, alcy finish. Too much alcohol but nice ale nonetheless.

This delicious beer pours an attractive deep amber colour with a medium sized vanilla head. IT has an initial sweet malted taste which finishes softly with caramel undertones.

Bottle brought back from Belgium. In a Duvel glass. Deep chesnut colour, fluffy white head. Aroma is full of caramel, malt, fruit and some smokiness with only a hint of alcohol in the background. The flavour is big, sweet and malty with a load of caramel and fruit, alcohol is evident as well as a bit of spiciness. Suprisingly found here is a touch of acidity. Quite highly carbonated. I guess it’s lacking in the true complexity of some other strong Belgians - but it sure has a lot of big, bold flavours and fairly well masked alcohol character. A beer you couldn’t hate.

The bottle looks really good, the beer in the glass also. Very dark, zippy, not much foam. Flavor very strong, sweet and malty. Very good beer.

Slightly hazy dark brown hue, with a beige head, but falls quickly, nice malty, yeasty nose, with some toasted, caramelized malts, hint of nutmeg and cinnamon spiciness, brown sugar, dark dried fruits in the aroma follows through on medium-bodied palate with a malty, grainy, fruity alcoholic warm character, with a raisiny, plumy accents, toasted malt, hint of toffeeish, leading towards a sweet malty warm finish.

Dark amber colour. Nice head. Somewhat sourish malt aroma. Mouth-filling sweet, malty flavour. The alcohol gives it warmth and bitterness.
