Had a little sweetness to it, but delicious none the less.

Amber/brown colored brew. Sweet cherry, wine like aroma. Acidic, wine-like flavor. Sweet and fruity. Brown sugar. Could use some more thick body. Overall interesting.

Bottle: Clear red/coppery colour, with a nice creamy head! Aroma of caramely, alcy ,citrus, fruity,floery nose in the end. flavor is smouth mouth feeling, almost like butter, medium body, short to medium fruity finish. A Creamy beer,would I call this beer. Nice!

Bottle about a year old, from belgium. Clear dark brown with red tint, large, creamy tan head. Real fruity, raisin, sweet aroma with red apple, dark fruit, real sweet though. Sweet red fruit flavor, red apple, alc, some dark fruit, yeast, raisin, a little heat, big sweetness though. Medium, syrupy body. Real sweet and big red apple.

Turbinado sugar and toasted malts with good dark fruits and brandyish finish. Lquorice and hops are both very mild but noticeable, good balanced big brune of above average quality for this brewery.

Gold brown colour with nice full head. Low character slightly metallic, faint hoppy-yeast aroma . Limited stimulation of back and sides of tongue, medium body and dry, slightly bitter finish. Nothing to write home about, a basic drinkable Belgian strong ale.

Pours a deep, but clear, copper hue with a large, foamy, off-white head. Initial aroma is redolent of pecan pie, with walnut-like sourness. Further inspection reveals a touch of tannic sharpness that seems just out of place. Raisins, dates and red grapes follow behind the more powerful aromas. Some grassy to dank floral elements appear as the beer warms. I like most of the aroma, but there’s something disturbingly sharp and artificial that shouldn’t be present as well as a waxy cheese-rind aroma in the background. There’s also a bit of alcohol in the nose, but not too much. The flavour begins very sweet with a touch of acidity for balance. Lots of caramel type flavours are present along with darker, dried fruits. The finish is also very sweet, again with some acidity, and just a little bit of bitterness. Medium bodied (quite surprisingly) with an oily texture and lively, fine carbonation. This one just misses Kasteelbier Donker dessert beer territory, which wouldn’t have been a bad achievement in my opinion. 33cl bottle, Duvel tulip, bbe 09/05/08.
