Bottle. Pours a dark brown colour with a huge off-white bubbly head that lasts well and laces - inviting. Nose is very toffee malt with some sweet slight lemon spice and clean alcohol, touch of cherry and dark fruit, vinous touch. Mouth is lovely and thick, alcohol disguised well, vinous and malty, very warm. Continues warmness into the palate, with just a hint of hoppiness and florality at the very end of the tongue. A yeasty taste remains, which is not all that bad. All in all, an excellent beer.

33 cl bottle via Bieropholie, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. BB 24/07/08.

App.: Deep copper-mahogany, clear, large off-white foam with good lacing. Aroma: Tangy molasses, brown sugar and dried fruits, some apple and cherry, sort of woody and vinous, likely due to the acidic tang; some warm spices Palate: Medium body, somewhat sharp effervescence, a bit astringent. Flav.: Much like the nose – tangy sweet flavours, some fruitiness, a bit of wood/wine, a touch of citrus and a touch of spice; finishes with a tingle, a bit of alcohol, off-dry but bright with a touch of bitterness.

Not bad.

Flaske.Knap så flot øl, men virkelig god duft af stærk øl, ikke alkohol men krydret stærk øl. Godt bid i smagen som ikke kommer fra humlen men fra karboneringen, hvilket er en god modvægt til sødmen. Rigtig god øl.

Sweet malt atone fruit aroma. Clear red brown colour with great head and lacing. Sweet malt flavour with lots of stone fruit. Smooth palate. Would have this again! ;-)

Mah! Presa allo Sweet House di via Scarlatti, che ogni tanto ha qualche bottiglia curiosa o perlomeno non tra le più reperibili (aveva anche le più classiche Blond e Tripel); l’ho bevuta a pranzo il giorno dopo, con la pasta alla salsa di noci e.. il tacchino? Non mi ricordo mica più! Sì credo proprio il tacchino... era il 30 aprile e il tacchino dovevamo mangiarlo il 29 sera invece poi abbiamo mangiato..? che abbiamo mangiato? ah gli hamburger. Comunque questa birra mi ha lasciato davvero perplesso, tanto alcol e poca pochissima complessità, giusto l’aroma è un poco più invitante ma per il resto si mantiene su standard qualitativi medio-bassi. very dark color, thin head, full aroma of caramel, nuts, chocolate, coffee, very sweet and lots of alcohol.

Bottled. Caramelly, malty with a hint of tartness in the aroma. Alcoholic, malty, bitter taste. Has a weird flavour that in combination with the alcoholic flavour forms the impression of a cheap European strong lager. Sugary and some herbal notes. I never was a particular fan of Grimbergen, but it´s easy to say that this is the worst of their line-up.

Bottle. Light alcoholic, very malty (dark chocolate). Dark red body, average off-white creamy head (lon lasting). Light sweet start, light bitter end, average duration. Medium to full body, creamy texture. Light alcoholic finish. Very nice one.
