Had on of these on tap at the De Wildeman. It was late and my notes are a little hard to read, but one thing is for sure, I did not need a 10% beer at that time. It was full of flavor...and booze. This stong beer was and tasted a little too boozy.

Tasted 2007-10-25. 2 years old. Pours dark red/brown, clear with beige head. Aroma of rye and molasses. Ditto flavor. Initially a little bit of metal, but it fades. It’s OK I guess.

(Dégusté avec french tickler) Une biere de couleur rougatre avec un mince collet moyennement collant. Odeur d’alcohol, cerises, prunes, vinaigre et sucre. Gout un peu sucré, alcohol et raisins.

Dark colour brown with a small head. Sweet malty taste but too much sweet taste. After tasting lots of amazing beers grimbergen looks dull. After taste is ok. but avarage beer.

A dark frothy brew strong in alcohol flaver. Needs a bit more malt to balance the alcohol and add to the profile.

Has a nice deep brown appearance and head, very sweet and syrupy but actually not overpowering. A good balance for a strong brew and worth a try or three.

I drunk one new bottle, and one which expired two years ago and was conserved in bad conditions. The rating is for the new bottle. Dark semi-transparent brown. Small fully lasting brownish head. The old beer has a fuzzy colour and the head has initially quite big bubbles. Uncommon aroma for a Strong Ale, with alcohol, dark fruits, apples, malt, caramel, citrus. Over the years, the aroma becomes much more alcoholic and becomes a strong (but not good) smell somewhere between cognac, alcohol and solvent. Any hints that this beer has ever been fruity are gone a long time ago. Initially sweetness, but still malty and alcoholic. Finish of malts and alcohol. The old beer has still some sweetness, but is unbalanced.
