Mar 7, 2005 Turbinado sugar and toasted malts with good dark fruits and brandyish finish. Lquorice and hops are both very mild but noticeable, good balanced big brune of above average quality for this brewery.

Nov 8, 2006 Bottle (330ml). Courtesy of Biegaman. In my Chimay goblet. Slightly hazy deep orange, average foamy-frothy lasting beige head. Sweet brown sugar malt aroma, very yeasty cinnamon and other sweet spice; alcohol. Taste - very much what the aroma promised, but boozier and fruity, with an increasing alcohol dominance as it warms - even a hint of tartness in the finish. Syrupy, solid body, very lively and alcoholic, sticky sweet linger - pretty solid belgian strong, very sweet, maybe a little too boozy, but I’m partial to the style, so decent marks. Thanks, Jan!

Clear medium to dark red amber color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, berry, wood, vinegar. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet, moderate bitter and vinegar acetic with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20090109]

Jul 29, 2007 Ruby-red colour, white head. Aroma: a complexity of red fruits. Flavours of red wine, red fruits. A bit sour, but also a typical grimbergen sweetness. Alcohol well hidden. Nice beer.

Sep 8, 2008 This is heavy stuff! Brown reddish color with long standing off white head. Aroma is slight sour with a full sweetness. The feeling in the mouth is heavy very sweet with notes of caramel and quite a lot of alcohol.

Jun 16, 2008 This delicious beer pours an attractive deep amber colour with a medium sized vanilla head. IT has an initial sweet malted taste which finishes softly with caramel undertones.
