| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 18, 2002 Clear amber with a huge beige head. Aroma is sweet and fruity. Has notes of caramel and spices. Flavour is caramelsweet and has notes of coriander, I believe. Distinct alcahol burn in the aftertaste. Decent beer, but by far not the best BSA, i’ve tried. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 30, 2003 Thick yellowish head, gone in seconds, but leaving the flimsiest of lace all over the glass. Deep brown beer with orange shine. Nose gives both portwine and perfume. Smells really like a (decent) fortified wine. Roasted and burnt malts in the taste. Licorice in abundance and burnt sugar. Some fruity esters too, but the above sugarmass doesn't leave it much chances. For all its body and oily feel, it has a rather thinnish texture. Alcoholburn prominent. The port flavour returns retronasal. If the bottle would bear the label "Trappist Ultimo Bruno", we'ld be all in ashes about "them going down". With the label Grimbergen the feeling is more as in "as expected". The portflavour (seen the BBd, unlinked to any ageing) is a really nice touch, however. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 28, 2004 Bottled. Clear, cherry-wood colour with a large white head. Viscous consistency. Sweet, nutty, dry aroma. Marty D, says it smells like smoked bacon. Some vinous qualities in there as well. Heavy hitter though and quite a beer to take on at the end of the evening. bu11zeye (5621), Frisco, Texas, USA
