Straling (92), Amstenrade, Netherlands Nov 20, 2008 Bottle 33cl.
Pours a murky brown colour with a good size head and good carbonation.
Smell is very fruity, can smell cherries even in there. Also grapefruit and raisins there.
Taste is also cherries and some other very sweet fruits there too.
Can also taste some raisins and spices.
Well balanced beer, goes down very nice with a slight hint of warmth. Sigmund (2006), Hafrsfjord, Norway Oct 5, 2008 330 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 10%. Copper coloured beer with a big and lasting beige head. Nice aroma of malts, caramel, brown sugar and balsamic vinegar. The flavour is malty sweet with some unwanted metallic sidenotes, also notes of caramel and brown sugar, hints of spices, moderate hops in the finish. Alcohol is noticeable throughout. Not in the league of the trappists this one. Pyobon (178), Sydney, Australia Oct 4, 2008 Dark chocolate brown with plenty of beige head. No remarkable aroma. Medium body and carbonation. Sweet malt with miscellaneous other flavours giving some complexity. Strong and drinkable but unremarkable.
ska (65), Italy Sep 25, 2008 33cl bottle, dark golden colour, small brownish head, caramel malt, brown sugar and dark fruits aroma with alcohol and metallic notes, very sweet flavor with citrus sour notes, medium body, metallic and alcohol finish, easy drinkable for a 10% abv harrisoni (5474), Ashford, Kent, England Sep 20, 2008 Bottle from Dranken Geers. Reddish brown with thin beige head. Malty fruity aroma. I suppose it’s a bit like a quad, but tastes more of a cross between a brune and a European strong lager. The alcohol is too obvious. Aroma of fruit and dry malt is attractive. Bit unsubtle and not enough body and flavour to support the alcohol.
