Yeasty mead like nose with hints of melon. Heavey in the mouth with a sweetness that lingers. Flavors of yeast, mead, cantalope, coriander and other spices. Quite complex though I feel like I’m drinking a mead. Papsoe (14997), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Lots of malt and lots of sweetness. Actually this is cloyingly sweet which makes it a hard-to-drink beer in combination with the 9%. 240593 GarethYoung (1110), Glasgow, Scotland

Taste: sweet and floral. Tangy. Belgian. Slightly citrusy - oranges and lemon. Not bitter at all. Slightly malty on the aftertaste. Somewhat estery too. Palate: cloying, fully, surprisingly so. A good belgian tripel. A little on the estery side, but for a 9%, that’s not too bad. It’s quite pleasant. aspidites (1274), manteca, California, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 5, 2005 Clearn golden, gentle white cover develops an interesting foamy aspect. Appealing wet hay capts my attention in the aroma while oatmeal and wet cereals lose some. Nevertheless, what stands out is an abundant yeastiness. Well contained alcohol in there and surprisingly good for a mass production tripel. Hoppy finish, hay-like and cerealic. The texture dominates the flavor in my mind. It gets pretty dry, but the yeast component certainly comes in front of any malt or hops. Nice mouthfeel as well, creamy and expanding through a high carbonation level.
