Commercial Description:
Scintillating, fresh and delicately flavoured, Grisette Fruits des Bois is a light, refreshing beer that is brewed with the best malt and wheat. This blend creates a riot of sweet yet slightly bitter tastes redolent of wild berries and other exquisite fruits of the forest.

(Bottle 25 cl) Hazy, pale reddish with a small, pinkish head. Rather fresh nose full of lovely berry aroma. Light body with a fine balance between the sweetness from the forest berries and the slight tartness from the wheat base beer. Actually a very pleasant fruit beer with no apparent flaws or tangs - just pure fruit. 240106

Tap. A’ite, everyone else bashes this stuff, but I liked it. Maybe I’m just so burned out on horridly unbalanced stuff here that this tastes comparatively decent? Violet, small head. Rich aroma of strawberries and raspberries, and chuck in a few cherries for the flavor. Thick, sweet mouthfeel. Most prominently raspberry. I feel like I’m going to bite in a little seed that will get stuck between my teeth.

brewed by St Feuillien according to the label - hazy reddish colour with a little unregular foam but a nice lacing; strong aroma of dark fruits syrup with notes of vanilla also coming through; very sweet, thin-bodied, flat and sweetish syrupy finish - herghhhh

Draught Fully hazy cyclamen-red; absolute pink head, quite dense. Nose like fruit ice-cream. Fruity, yes, but it doesn’t ring true. Cassis (=blackcurrant, which is NOT supposed to be a fruit des bois ) is most apparent. Sweet - and again blackcurrant. It’s obviously quite artificial but not really unpleasant. Children’s drink, I’d say. Lots of sweetness, certainly retronasal. Slick, sugary, even syrupy mouthfeel. All has been said. Except that this one might be brewed at St. Feuillien itself, rather than at Opwijk.

(Bottled) Hazy, deep red color with a medium, pinkish, slightly lacy head. A quite natural aroma of red currants, with some added sweetness of raspberries. Sweet, somewhat artificial raspberry flavor with some acidity and sour hints in the finish. Light to medium-bodied, sweet and sugary palate with a bit foamy carbonation. The flavor is quite disappointing compared to the aroma. Sweet and artificial - just like so many others of the kind.

Hazy reddish colour with a pink thin head. Fruity sweet, but also light sour aroma. Fizzy mouthfell. Light acidic fruity flavor.

Bottle, Brussels, May 2005. Head is initially average sized, frothy, pink, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy dark red. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), with notes of raspberry and cherry. Flavor is heavily sweet, moderately acidic. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic. Medium to full body, syrupy texture, lively carbonation.

Bottle Murky red body. Frothy, pink head, fully diminishing. Spare lace. Sweet yoghurt (sour milk) favour of raspberiies, myrtilles, ... Lightly bitter, lightly sweet initial flavour. Moderately sweet finish. Somewhat watery. Very light bodied. Perfect soda - alcohol-pop. Actually I thought this would be harshly sweet, but it’s a surprise it isn’t, but still too sweet for my tastebuds.
