ARoma is pleasant, nutty, fruity, wooden and also quite caramel malty. Flavour is quite much the same. Very pleasantly balanced. Like a British bitter with some very US IPA notes. williamherbert (475), Syracuse, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 9, 2009 Chlorine is the dominant aroma; Euro pilsner hops. Grassy. Overally the nose is a German lager. The appearance is clear copper. See through with tons of carbonation. Decent head, icy lace. The taste is darkly bitter malts. Grassy pilsner hop presence. Like an extra pale. Heavy yeast presence. Much like a bready, yeast-laden pale ale. A bitter bit at the swallow. A little fizzy but a bready, yeast dryness. Bite at the swallow. Overall it’s a grassy, pale pilsner-like beer. Not crazy hoppy. chriso (4852), London, Greater London, England
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 8, 2009 Cask (gravity) at GBBF 2009, Day 1 @ 6.7%. Gold/amber colour. The hop character, whilst apparent, is relatively restrained for a US IPA. I know we are dealing with a New England IPA here and the balance is pretty decent but I guess I prefer my US IPAs to be more blockbusting in the hop department. Nice enough though.

Clear amber color, small off-white head. Bready hoppy aroma, also caramelly. Grassy, bready hoppy juice flavor. Quite sweet IPA.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Aug 3, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours a amber/copper color with a 1/2" beige head. Aroma is mild floral hops. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Flavor is mild hops balanced out with malt. Kind of weak as an IPA, but certainly drinkable. MartinT (5075), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 29, 2009 My Bottom Line:
This bubbly Pale Ale provides juicy caramel atop green and earthy hops for a lean and quaffable pint.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the clear amber.
-As an IPA, this is rather weak. As a Pale Ale, it’s decent.
-A touch of diacetyl bothers the nose, but is not that perceptible in the flavor profile.
-The effervescence tends to overtake the caramel malts, which by the way are quite similar to their Best Bitter’s.
-This is very easy drinking for a 6.8% brew.

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 17, 2009 A clear amber color with almost no head. Almost no bubbles appear in the glass. The aroma is slightly hoppy with hints of kidneys. Given that I was recently drinking an imperial IPA but this beer appears to lack some hops. This IPA is a little sweet and thick for my liking. It isn’t crisp and doesn’t have much hop body. da845 (139), new york, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 12, 2009 Not really a true IPA but a pretty good light one. Very much like grittys other beers. Worth trying.
