Jet black in the glass with an appealing 1/4 inch tan head with some evidence of lace. Smells creamy and sweet. Hints of burnt malt.
Hits the tongue with bitter roasted malt. Fades to smooth chocolately flavor. Medium-heavy body with that burnt malt lingering on the back of the tongue. Very drinkable and affordable. A solid local stout.

Pours a nearly transparent, brown and black layered color, with an espresso colored head that is creamy and lasting (flaked barley or oats probably, as the relatively high carbonation level should not dictate this good of head retention). Aroma smells thick and nutty, with caramel, light barley and low hops apparency. A bit of chocolate and milk in there as well. Flavor is fairly simple, yet flavorful. Milk chocolate, light roast, not very bitter, with toffee on the finish and a touch of hops. Solid, well-executed beer, with a respectable medium, bordering on medium-full body. Not overdone with hops, so cheers to these guys for resisting the temptation. dvanbler (7), Massachusetts, USA does not count | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Mar 7, 2005 Poured a huge foamy tan head which eventually disappated to nothing. Nice coffee aroma. Medium bitterness, sweet creamy taste, dry finish. Good but nothing special. matta (1139), Tampa, Florida, USA

Was a very nice brew. Bold black body and a gruff tan head. Big roasted barley, creamy notes of coffee and coco. Not overly bitter, nor too sweet small note of raisins.. Creamy mouth-feel, with a crisp finish. The Gritty’s pub was pretty sweet as well. StoutCat (85), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Feb 28, 2005 Mahogany colored, looks promising. Nicely flavorful (slightly bitter) initial taste. Couldn’t smell anything coming off the glass, combined with the lack of palate depth taste created a sadly weak finish. Very drinkable, but not notable CaptainCougar (5523), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 24, 2005 Dark, nearly opaque brownish black with a thin, light tan head. Aroma is slightly roasted and burnt with a touch of dark chocolate. Mildly sweet body has a touch too much CO2 with a thin, dry, bitter dark chocolate finish. A decent stout, but could use a little more body.
