I’m re-rating this one: No head, very dark read color. Thin bodied and roasty. Sweet and pleasant overall.

Best and freshest on tap in Maine. Goes great with a rich dish at Slate’s in Hallowell. Best offering from McDuffs. If you have stayed in Maine in the late spring, you have experienced black flies! The label reflects me mowing my lawn. Love their brew pub in Old Port...

This comes to me from Willblake way back when! Opaque black pour with a generous tan head that lasts and lasts. Aroma of roast malt with a bit of chocolate coming through. Dry palate, with just a bit of sweetness to balance the roast malt flavor. Smooth and not too overdone in any way.

Big tan head on top of this roasty chocolate stout. A little thin on the palate for a stout but has a nice roasty flavor. Somewhat bitter coffee finish. Thanks to my friend Ezra for bringing this to me from Maine.

never experienced the blackfly - only fly (he’s an asshole). Has anyone called this dark yet? Guess there may be some reasoning in the use of "black" in the name. Nice, plenty roasty - perhaps heading near the border of overkill - and good body, tongue coating and all. Well enjoyed, but not an ultimate fave.

Well carbonated. Pitch black with a head the over flows the bottle. Smokey burnt nutty sweet aroma. Very thin bodied. Flavor slighty bitter but fortuately nut overly acidic. Dry finish. Thanks ClarkVV

As the name implies, pours nearly black with tons of tan head that holds for along time. Not really any aroma to speak of, just a bit of nut. Bitterness comes out of the gate strong, but finishes smoothly. The aftertaste is also pretty bitter. Overall, the flavor is very full, but I think it is a little on the burnt side and is overly carbonated.
