| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 26, 2009 Bottle: poured a dark black in color with a thick chocolate colored head. The aroma was dry roasted coffee. The flavor was a tad weak, coffee, chocolate, roasted malts, and a bit watered down. Overall, a drinkable brew that falls into the middle of the pack. | 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jan 19, 2009 This poured dark brown in color with a thick and fluffy beige head. The aromas were hard to come by as this was not very forthcoming. The palate was similarly stripped of flavor with a mild tartness but not much else. rcasta (489), El Salvador

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 28, 2008 Pours a dark mahogany body with a massive column of mocha colored foam. The head is quickly fleeting, settling to a wispy film. Scant traces of spotty lacing mark the glass. The aroma shows dry, bitter cocoa, day old coffee, earthy hops, and a hint of vanilla. Flavors are dry and roasty, cocoa and burnt barley showing strongest, with acrid, earthy hops coming through on the finish. A weak and watery body does not do much to help this boring brew. This one is far from good. Tmoney99 (4777), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Poured black color with medium to large brown frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Medium roasted coffee aroma. Medium body with a smooth dry texture and flat carbonation. Medium flavor of roasted malt with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration.
Drinkable brew. Chia (42), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 19, 2008 Huge dark beige, creamy head over nearly black beer. Very neutral nose, liquorice, molasses, smoked bark. Extremely dry taste, coffee grits, bark spices, charcoal, burnt. Background sweetness. Not bad in the matter of balance. Medium bodied at best, creamy texture. Pleasing taste, certainly for a light-meant stout. halfonit (472), Fall River, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 2, 2008 For a stout this is pretty weak. It has a burnt malt scent and taste. This has quite a bit of carbonation in it for a stout. Not much flavor in it at all. Overall a pretty weak brew. Too bad, Gritty usually puts out some good stuff.
