Pours a dark, chocolate-brown color; fizzy, medium-tan head with solid creamy lacing. Chalky cocoa, dark chocolate, and just a touch of mild tartness in the aroma; slight bitterness. Medium mouthfeel: fizzy carbonation; lots of bitter chocolate and cocoa; some citrus and lots of bitterness from the cocoa; slightly muddled. Medium finish: bitter chocolate, cocoa, slightly chalky and dry. Beershine (2754), Traipsing Around, Cambodia
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 20, 2008 Draught @ the Freeport tavern, both cask-conditioned and nitro versions. Opaque black-brown, small head. Husky, roasted malt aroma. Low carbonation. Silky smooth. Burnt flavors. Quaffable. Slight touch of anise sweetness. Burnt and husky but still alright. Nitro does not do it justice. Ibrew2or3 (2766), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 11, 2008 12oz bottle pours black with near infra red edges and semi bumpy-frothy mocha head. The aroma is a mix of burnt malts and coffee grounds to go along with mild levels of caramel and vanilla. The taste starts semi vanilla sweet and quickly moves to dark roasted malts and coffee. A burnt malt note rises up and grows into the finish becoming nearly ashy. Into the after taste I’m left with burnt malts and a return of the vanilla note. Rciesla (3790), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA

I’d drink another most any day. Seemed to have undertones of something more interesting than was in the bottle-- think mine may have sat too long before I randomly found it in a Middle Ages (Syracuse, NY) 12-pack here in Philadelphia. kassner (471), Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Apr 14, 2008 Bottle... Pours black with a small, creamy, well-tanned head. Good retention. Buttery chocolate and coffee grounds aroma with just a pinch of vanilla. Medium-bodied and lightly creamy with lively carbonation. Thin, papery flavor. Cardboard bitterness with very low sweetness and just a dab of acidity. Lightly bitter, bone-dry finish. Slipstream (783), USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 14, 2008 There is a nice, foamy head on this Maine-brewed stout. A painting of a swarm of blood-sucking flies graces the label. Full aroma of malt, yeast, and honey. Soft and lightly fizzy, with a taste of roasted grains and dark chocolate. Mellow, lightly bitter, finish. This is an enjoyable stout, despite being a little thin.
