Commercial Description:
Our Christmas Ale is a robust E.S.B. (Extra Special Bitter.) This brew has a lovely, dark red/amber color and a rich, full-bodied, malty taste with a slightly roasted undertone. We brew our Christmas Ale to an original gravity of 1064 (about 6.2% alcohol by volume) using only the finest English Pale and Crystal Malts with a touch of Roasted Barley as well. A blend of Clusters, Styrian Goldings, Saaz and Yakima Goldings leaf hops round out this hearty brew. Gritty's Christmas Ale has no additives, fruits or spices. It's just a good honest ale, perfect for the season. And to top it all off, it's already gift-wrapped! (Available on draft, in 22 oz bottles and 5 liter Mini-kegs from November through January)

Pours an orange-tinged brown into a shaker. Off-white head recedes to hug rim leaving no lacing. Roasted malt aromas. Full and malty with a dry hop finish. Tastes better than it looks.

Bottle from World of Beer, Clearwater, FL. Poured clear brown color with a large frothy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted caramel malt aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture and soft carbonation. Medium spicy sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable holiday beer.

Bottle. Sweet earthy malt aroma. Dark reddish copper body, small head. Flavor is fairly mild, very malty, with some bitterness in the finish. Not great, but ok.

Appearance: Pours a clear, mahogany-hued body with a small, bubbly, white head. Smell: A pretty wimpy aroma, I dare. Just a light hint of biscuity malts and a pinch of spices. Taste: Biscuity, light toasty caramel maltiness, though, overall, it’s kinda light. Slight sweetness. Faint fruitiness. Mild spiciness, mild bitterness. Clean, dry finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: Nothing bad, but I could definitely stand a bit more -- more of everything. Even if I get my ass thrown onto Santa’s Naughty List I just had to speak my mind about it. Perhaps the oil crunch is hitting us, even Jolly Old Saint Nick, in ways we never could have imagined, but I have a sneaky suspicion he’s holding back.

Bottle courtesy of HogtownHarry-Pours deep amber, with a slight orange haze to it. Head is off white and frothy. The nose is of caramel, bread crust, pit fruit, some milk chocolate. Taste is sweet fruity caramel, prune and plum with milk chocolate and toasty, doughy flavours. Finishes sweet but balanced by good hops bitterness. A good sipper. Thanks again Harry!

This one poured a dark amber color. The aroma is full of spices and also some chocolate, caramel, and mint. The flavor is malty with some chocolate and caramel in there. A definite spice presence in this one. Overall a pretty good beer.

Pours a transparent copper amber with a spotty-lacing light tan head. Aroma of lightly toasted caramel malt and some piny English hops. Body starts with light caramel malty sweetness, a touch of light fruits and some earthy bittering hops before a slightly citrusy bittersweet finish. An ok ESB.
