Gritty McDuffs Dunkel

On tap at the Freeport brewpub. Like most of the beers at Gritty’s this one is good though nothing spectacular.

This was a surprise to find...a german beer at an english style pub. I found it thin, watery, and sort of disappointing. Reminds me more of a EPA than a Dunkel to be honest, i’m not sure that just using hallertau hops makes something a dunkel :)

Golden-brown colour. Very nutty aroma is lightly toasty, lightly caramelly. Simple palate - a bit thin, tart at the back. Not sure how dunkel this is.

Draught @ Freeport Gritty. Dark amber color. Clean, balanced with good malt character even though it’s on the sweet side. Somewhat roasty. Decent.
