Commercial Description:
In order to celebrate Gritty's fifth year of brewing, we decided to brew an ale so unique that it would capture the true essence of Gritty McDuff's! Fashioned after the Trappiste ales of Belgium and Flanders, this ale is brewed from both lager and ale malt, whole American Fuggles hop flowers and Slovakian Saaz hops. This ale is then aged for a whole month before serving! However, an ale cannot truly call itself "Abbey Style" unless a portion of the proceeds of its sales go towards a church-sponsored charity. Gritty will donate 10 per cent of all sales to the "Maine Summer Campership Program" which helps send underprivileged children to Summer Camp.
