I expected another miserable copy of an Oktoberfest or another miserable decoction of raw pumpkin and ale. Deep amber pour with a large light orange to tan head. Nose of malts and hops and caramel, no stinking pumpkin to be found. Taste of sweet malts, burnt sugar or toffee, and bitter hops, with nutty notes and notes of a sweet spice like allspice. Bitter finish. I’m not a big fan of this brewery, but this beer is fine. SoLan (1426), Orlando, Florida, USA

Aroma of toasty, burnt brown sugar/caramel, bitter and earthy hops, and subtle spice. Flavor adds more spice. Dry, bitter finish. Medium, balanced palate. Very drinkable. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 18, 2006 12 oz bottle served at cellar temperature in a Chouffe glass. Big medium-bubbled light tan head, fully lasting with nice lacing topping the clear, slightly bubbly copper body....nutty, spicy aroma with plenty of caramel malt and perhaps a bit of ginger, light dry grassiness and earthy, clay qualities....smooth, slightly crispy/tarry malty-thick body, medium to low sweetness, burnt sugars swirl through the lively, prickly carbonation....becomes a bit figgy as it warms and sweeter with a surprisingly hard finish....overall very pleasant. Mildly bitter with caramel, and toffee notes. Hints of spice. Grainy or corn in the finish. Average body. Good beer but expected something more special for a special brew. Reddish copper color with a light tan head that dissipates quickly. Flavor is molasses, spices, and nutmeg. Palate is fairly thick and smooth with a nice chewy mouth feel. Overall a great seasonal brew. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 27, 2006 Thanks to jjpm for this one. Pours deep coppery caramel colored with smallish off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt, brown sugar, nutmeg, subdued pumpkin spice, and cacao. Tastes caramel malty, with some cacao, nutmeg, pumpkin spice hints, and some slight brown sugar, cinnamon, and Bartlett pear. This one is a nice autumn brew. thornecb (1793), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 26, 2006 Pours a deep amber into a shaker. Tan, medium to micro head looks like pancake batter as it quickly recedes. Sharp, sour yellow cake batter aromas (if it looks like batter, and it smells like batter...it better not taste like batter)...Upfront creamy candy corns turns to a lasting bitter hop finish. hopdog (5606), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
