Bottle. Amber brown, medium head. Aroma of crystal malt. Malty caramel taste with a nutty, maybe hazelnut, flavor. I like this beer.

This beer was the furthest thing to a brown ale. No flavor to it. Not even close to a nut brown style. Very light on the palate and flavorless. No sweetness in the malt and no nutty flavors. WEAK!

Perhaps my six pack was a fluke but I found it thin, sour, yeasty, lacking in malt and hops, with little depth and completely lacking balance. Similar to a mediocre home brew.

(draft @ The Old Toad - Rochester, NY) Clear and light brown pour with a thin white head. Aroma is dry and sweet with lots of caramel malts. Flavor is very light and sweet with loads of caramel. Flavor disappears quickly and leaves a lingering and cloying sweetness. Not a great brown ale.

12oz bottle tasted one month after its Best Before date. Pours a clear amber - not particularly brown. Tons of carbonation. Malty aroma. Taste is a bit better than I was expecting from the appearance and my other experience with Gritty beers. Still not great, mind you. Some malt and molasses, but not a lot of complexity.

Bottle (12oz). Bright clear amber, large foamy-fizzy biege head - brown ale? Dry, metallic grain/malt aroma, some very stale dry hops. Tastes like stale straw, maybe a whisper of chocolate. Watery, fizzy, harsh mouthfeel - bleh.

12oz bottle. Poured a deep and see through orange color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, nuts and toasted malts. Lighter tastes of the same. Body on the thin side.
