Commercial Description:
VSA is an Extra Special golden ale that’s light in color but full-bodied, with a snappy hop finish. A bit of extra time in the conditioning tank rounds out and mellows the ale.

Clear golden coloured body with an orange tint. Light to Medium-bodied; Strong malt backbone with some lighter spices and a tiny touch of hops. Alcohol and a dose of yeast also noticeable with more perfumey tastes coming strong afterwards. Overall, a good and refreshing beer, nothing amazing, but good to sample! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 12-July-2008.

Draft at McKays Public House. Light and crisp with some flavor, too. Not a bad summer, session beer. Golden body with a diminishing white head. The light aroma had notes of brown sugar, citrus and flowers. The flavor was lightly sweet and lightly bitter. The finish picked up a little more bitterness. Light to medium body with lively carbonation.

12 oz bottles purchased at C.E. Reilly’s in New Harbor, Maine. Sharp bitterness, almost too sharp for the style. Two in a row might be my maximum on this one. I enjoyed the 6 pack and would buy it again. I wonder if this on tap would be any easier going.

12 oz bottle. Pours a gold color with a small white head. Nose is grainy with a mild hop aroma. Palate is somewhat thin and moderatly carbonated. Flavor is mild hops, some malt & grains. A nice little summer brew. Nothing more.

St. Petersburg, Fl. - Shep’s Deli - 12 oz bottle. Light golden pour, spritzy white head. Grainy aroma with some hoppy accents. Crisp flavor with some buttery notes, some subtle fruity notes - thinking pears here and apples here. Mouthfeel is crisp. Decent summer refresher.

The aroma has malt and grassy hops. The appearance is golden with a nice head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is thin. Overall it’s not that impressive.

pretty good for a style i don’t particularly care for. A nice golden hue with a fast fading white head. A somewhat watery carbonated look to it. Aroma was sweet with a subtle brown sugar note and some hops. Flavor was a little sweeter then the aroma indicated hops were mild present in the background. A nice crisp finish that was light on the palate.
