Commercial Description:
VSA is an Extra Special golden ale that’s light in color but full-bodied, with a snappy hop finish. A bit of extra time in the conditioning tank rounds out and mellows the ale.

i’m not gonna write much about this one, because in my opinion it doesn’t deserve many words. the flavor for me is basic, the appearance is weak and the smell is unattractive. I usually don’t dis a beer this badly but i just feel that i wasted money and time on this. Hopefully this is better for somebody else.

Pours a translucent golden with a touch of amber and a smaller bubbly white head. Aroma of light citrus, malty sweetness, cereal grains and bready. Flavor was a match of the aroma. The same cereal grains, light citrus and bready.

20070713 Bottle. Solid, simple, fresh, fruity, unremarkable quaffer. Slight grainy notes and weedy hop snap.

Bottle: Orange-yellow brew with a big cauldron on top. Highly carbonated. Aroma is sweet-bready, lightly citrusy. The drink is even more bready, even vaguely yeasty, with a big cookie dough aspect and a tight finish at the end. I really like beers like this, although clearly they are not popular amongst the Ratebeer masses ... anything vaguely yellowy is at a disadvantage here. (#3203, 11/14/2007)

22 oz bottle. Pours a clear dark gold body under a thin looking one finger fizzy white head. Some fairly heavy lacing remained. Very lightly fruity aroma with some banana, vanilla, wheat, and just a hint of crackery malt. Flavor is pretty typical of an American Wheat, fairly light with a hay and light maltiness up front fading to a doughy and somewhat husky finish. Minimal bitterness on the lingering finish. Mouthfeel is light bodied and watery in texture with moderate fizzy carbonation. There’s a little doughy clinginess on the finish. Overall, clearly not exciting, but no major faults at least, unlike some of their other offerings. On tasting this without looking it up first I would have guessed it was a wheat beer.

(Rating #1262)

Bottle: Pours a clear dark golden with a thin, spotty white head. Big, earthy floral bitter English hoppy aroma has a hint of pale maltiness. Body starts very dry, and bitter with big earthy, grassy hoppy character toward a similar finish. Could use a little more sweetness for balance.

Bottle with a Dec 07 expiration date. Pours an orange-yellow. A bit of carbonation. I can’t quite place the scent but you know what it reminded me of? A Kaliber non-alcoholic brew! Fruity-ish. Feels smooth in my mouth like one of those squishy caramel candies with the white center. A pleasing mild flavor that goes down smooth. A slightly hoppy aftertaste but not a surly one. An abover average brew.
